SELECT PROGRAM (U11-U19)

Rio Rapids Northern Soccer Club Select is an elite program for teams and players to compete in the highest level of league play in New Mexico.  It is the mission of Rio Rapids Northern Soccer to provide an environment that fosters play at the highest level, along with the developmentally appropriate training of players who demonstrate talent and dedication with the desire to excel. Furthermore, Rio Rapids Northern Soccer is committed to placing teams and players at an appropriate level of competition as well as teaching the values of good sportsmanship to all who participate.

The intent of the Select Program is to place the best players on competitive teams and play in the Duke City Soccer League.

"Playing up" into an older age group will only be allowed if approved by the Director of Coaching.  All players must try out for their own age group unless given special permission by the Director of Soccer. Rio Rapids Northern Soccer has one of the most qualified coaching staffs in the state.

For further information, please contact our Director of Soccer, Rob Rittmeyer at 505.982.0878 Ext 3 or dos@northernsc.org

ACADEMY PROGRAM (Ages U8 - U10)
The Academy is ‘a place of study or training in a special field’. The academy is offered for players, boys and girls, aged U8 - U 10. It is for players with the technical, tactical, physical, and psychological attributes and the potential to be future Select players.  The development league coaches will make recommendations and the professional staff will evaluate the players for academy teams. Players that are not chosen for Select may be chosen for Academy.  Academy teams will practice together one or twice a week and once a week with their development team - depending upon their age.  They will play for their Development and Academy teams for weekend games, regional play, and maybe tournaments.

For further information, please contact our Director of Soccer, Rob Rittmeyer at 505.982.0878 Ext 3 or dos@northernsc.org

DEVELOPMENT (Ages U4 -U15)

One of the most important aspects of the Northern Soccer philosophy is to provide opportunities for players to participate at whatever level they desire.  Any player who loves the game of soccer should have an opportunity to play that matches their desired level of competition.  Our development program is the foundation for all activities conducted by the club.

The Rio Rapids Northern Soccer development program emphasizes fun and learning in an environment where boys and girls can practice the teamwork and skills necessary for playing soccer.  Our goals are to improve and maintain physical fitness, to promote emotional health and growth, and to foster the spirit of doing one's best for oneself and the team.

Rio Rapids Northern Soccer will provide Saturday games at The Santa Fe Downs, group and team practice sessions, and two jerseys (home and away).

For further information, please contact our Registrar, Elva Gurule at 505.982.0878 Ext 2 or via e-mail at registrar@northernsc.org for registration.

NORTHERN ALLIANCE PROGRAM (U10 - U15)
The Northern Alliance is a collaboration between Taos Youth Soccer (TYSL) Los Alamos Football Club (LAFC) and Rio Rapids Northern (RRNSC) to provide an opportunity for players, boys and girls, aged between U10 and U14, to continue to play competitive club soccer without having to travel to Duke City every weekend.

AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM - COMMUNITY OUTREACH

We partner with Communities in Schools (CIS) and La Familia to provide soccer as an after school activity in a number of southside schools. Communities in Schools works with the 5% of students at the greatest risk of not graduating from school - and soccer is a medium for actively engaging them in school. This program is designed to give grade school students the opportunity to play and learn soccer, get physical activity twice a week, and teach them teamwork.

We currently run programs in:

  • Sweeney Elementary

  • Salazar Elementary

  • Pinon Elementary

  • Kearney Elementary

  • Ortiz Middle School

  • El Camino Real Academy

For more information, or to support this program., please contact Marco Ortiz, Operations Director at 505.982.0878 ext 5 or email at opsupport@northernsc.org
